Sounding Great

This is a great submission

the only thing that let it down a tiny bit was the mix

and i know working with dfh's mixer is quite annoying at times but . .

drop the volume of the overheads and compress them a slight bit and bring the guitars up a tad so they sit just above that kick but only just so the kick still cuts through and it would be perfect. .

still great track none the less

well done

9/10
5/5

:)

HappyHomicide responds:

Yes sir! This is a very old mix!

Great Work

I dont normally listen to this sort of thing

but i found this really pleasant to listen to

mixed and mastered extremely well with a great overall balance of tone . .

9/10
5/5

:)

steelside responds:

lol thanks. I wonder why I got like 0 bombed. my score was at like 2.3 when i logged in today.

Sounds Excellent

Great Submission

a very enjoyable piece to listen to.

the only criticsm i have is the volume . .

i know pieces like this are better served unmastered to keep the dynamics of everything going but i did find that this submission was a tad on the quiet side . .

but still

you have managed to capture the mood of this song very well.

10/10 from me

keep it up

anthonyragus responds:

Wow, that was quick. Thanks for your review!

You mad cunt

Sounding awesome dude and the master sounds right on the money . . but yeah without a sub this is sounding awesome . . .

i still have those behringer monitors of your still here . . . they are just sitting here doing nothing since i got my KRK's

keep producing top quality shit like this man your on a roll

jarrydn responds:

Hahahaha, cheers bro!

I'll have to grab them cunts off of you one of these days ;D. And check the fuck out of your studio too. Lol, you should see mine now, it's alllllllll changed XD

bring back the oldschool

hahah enjoyed this very much

reminds me of a mixture bloodduster and napalm death with (i dont know why) a dash of anal cunt on top

if only those highs were more ear peircing :(

hahah

nice track

GoreBastard responds:

Cheers man!
Yeah I'm a massive Napalm Death fan. Some of the later stuff I've written sounds a hell of alot like ND. Can't wait to record it!

Cheers for the review man!

very nice

practially nailed the track

but id like to see more beneath the massacre covers

:D

the one criticsm i have is that the track is a little rough sounding
i can hear in the guitar track where youve cut the volume straight after you finish the note. cutting tracks like this causes clipping when the volume drops to zero. next time try a fade out that lasts no longer than half a second as it sounds much more cleaner that way.

and also

try tweak the drums a bit more in DFH
because it is possible to get a real good sound from it rather than not changing the mix a little

other than that

well done

now go give totalitarian hypnosis a shot :P

HappyHomicide responds:

thanks for the love dude!!
Well I didnt flat cut it, it's still there, just quiet becuase theres a damn ring. what do you mean by tweak more in DFH?

totalitarian hypnosis... I may have to way a but. I like nevermore... more. the breakdown makes me lol/shit a brick.

Keep it metal!!!

nice nice nice

like what youve done with the compressor

was the mic compressed or did you do it in the master?

and also which compressor and mic did you use ?

cheers
Jay

jarrydn responds:

Recording was two mono tracks (one guitar, one drums) panned centre. Just a compressor strapped across the drum track to make it really pump. No other effects as far as I'm aware, apart from maybe some EQ.

Microphone was a shure SM-57...hence the trashy sounding drums hahaha. But I kind of dig it, in a real DIY grind kind of way :]

The compressor was the one that comes default with Sony Acid Pro. I don't know why, but I really like how dirty it is. It's wicked for slamming the life out of anything. But yeah, we just took it from Acid and used it in Nuendo instead ;D

Ummmm, once the track was mixed down, I probably would have opened it up in t-racks and limited the buttz out of it to get it as loud as possible. Also the t-racks EQ is pretty fucking gnarly :)
